On May 19th 2001, Apple opened its first every Apple retrial store at Tysons’s Corner, Virginia everyone one thinks Whats it like to work in an Apple Store. Now there are around 450 stores employing over 4,000 people. And, of course, if you want to include Mac Rental Company – the biggest Apple fans on the planet fixing all your iPhones, MacBooks and iPads, we’re at around 451 – not too bad going from Apple. These stores, all told, serve over two hundred and twenty-five million customers per year – which is rather a lot of people. We can perhaps not hope to imitate this spectacular number, but we are proud of the hundreds of customers we have helped in London and around the UK with our next day deliveries and efficient service.
However, whilst we, at Mac Rental Company work pretty hard, we sometimes rather enjoy a little bit of whimsy. So this week, and in honour of Valentine’s Day, we are reporting the weirdest aspects of being an Apple employee.
Lockdown
Working for Apple is a little like working for the MI5 – without, you know the exotic travel, guns and legend that is Mrs. Q. If you are an Apple employee (or are you?) you are simply not allowed to talk about your job – so that’s a big no on any moaning or whinging down the pub. More than that you are not able to post a picture of yourself in your Apple t-shirt on any form of social media #lockdown.
Creatives
According to our sources Apple much prefers to recruit students in graphic design or music. This makes perfect sense, the creatives that we work with such as the graphic designers in London and the musicians in Manchester all rely on their MacBook Pros and iMacs to do their work and appreciate just how vital Apple is to their work.
Friendliness
Just like at Mac Rental Company, Apple encourages its staff to make a personal connection with their customers. Apparently, once someone has made a purchase Apple employees are encouraged to ask for your favourite flavour of ice cream- ours is mint chocolate chip if anyone is interested?
Training
A little like the army Apple has a specially designed training programme for all its new employees – continuing on with the theme of the Secret Service to be honest we aren’t really sure what this day entails. But, we imagine some effective team bonding activities and there are rumours each person gets a mentor. At Mac Rental Company we have a similarly rigorous process – once we hire a new member of staff we take them down the pub for a pint. Same thing, right?
Best job ever
Let’s be honest working for Apple must be the best job ever. Working with MacBooks, iPads, and iMacs on a day to day basis as we well know at Mac Rental Company is a real privilege and one that certainly makes us excited to come to work each and every day.
We would love to hear from you.
