The future of Apple beyond 2017? Now the past couple of weeks at Mac Rental Company has seen our team salivate and celebrate the full glory of Apple products. We lovingly and carefully chose 10 of the most phenomenal products released by the tech geniuses over at Apple – including the MacBook Pro, the iPad Air as well as the phenomenal iPhone, devices without which we would completely lost and adrift. However, now we want to look to the future – beyond 2017 and find out what Apple has in store for us over the next couple of decades or so.
The future of Apple beyond 2017 is assumed that the third edition of the Apple Watch will be released in September 2017. There is a fair amount of speculation around the release of this hotly anticipated product. Given that Apple holds a patent for a front facing camera and that it introduced support for FaceTime audio calls on Watch OS 2 it is widely assumed that the Watch 3 will include a front facing camera that could be used for selfies or FaceTime. It is also assumed it will include a Micro-LED display which would be lighter, thinner and brighter than the LCD panels currently displayed.
There are also suggestions that the Watch 3 will be able to run independently from an iPhone as many believe it will have an untethered mode, allowing wearers to connect the Apple Watch 3 to a network directly from the Watch itself. However, a number of tech enthusiasts question the validity of this as it would impact far too heavily on the battery life of the device.
Meanwhile at the end of 2016 Apple published its first artificial intelligence paper, now most people safely assume that Apple is, like Facebook and Google, investing massive amounts of resources in Artificial intelligence. However, it has long been criticised for not publicising any of its work, which was starting to affect its brand as well as its ability to attract top talent. It also flies in the face of the scientific community, which in general is meant to encourage collaboration. What this publication really did was confirm what has long been assumed – that Apple is dedicating significant resources to AI. However, Apple are, unsurprisingly, keeping their developments strictly under wraps, which doesn’t stop the team at Mac Rental Company speculating on all the exciting sorts of products Apple may have in store – we are geeks. What can we say?
