New iMacs just launched! Get the iMac news from Mac Rental Company. In our previous blog this week we discussed the exciting new range of products Apple announced at their Worldwide Developer Conference. However, for this blog we would like to focus on the brand spanking new iMacs – a favourite of the many creatives and designers we work with, the unveiling of a new edition has been greeted with some serious fanfare. Hailed as the most powerful Mac yet, it boasts (big breath here) a 27 inch Retina 5K display, an AMD Radeon Vega GPU, up to 18-core Xeon processors and up to 22 Teraflops of graphic computation. What this fancy hardware means is that it is capable of advanced graphics edition, virtual reality content creation as well as real-time 3D rendering. It also supports up to 4TB of SSD and up to 128GB of ECC memory. It also has four Thunderbolt 3 ports which can connect up to two high performance RAID arrays and two 5K displays at the same time. All of which, we guess, goes some way in explaining its rather hefty starting price of £4,999. But, it’s surely worth it for no other reason than it will be the first ever iMac to come in Space Gray.

In terms of software the iMac will be supported by High Sierra which will introduce new features like blocking autoplay video, iCloud file sharing as well as a Mail app that uses 35% less of your computer’s storage. Apple has also added support for the latest video codec. Impressively you will also be able to use the latest VR headset – which is pretty exciting.

According to John Ternus, Apple’s vice president of hardware engineering, they’ve, “re-engineered the whole system and designed an entirely new thermal architecture to pack extraordinary performance into the elegant, quiet iMac our customers love – iMac Pro is a huge step forward and there’s never been anything like it.” Some serious fighting talk from the big wigs over at Apple.
