Is Apple facing troubling times? At Mac Rental Company, we are in the business of renting and fixing all Apple products, including your iPhones, MacBook Pros, iMacs and iPads. We are proud geeks and love Apple for its innovation and constant desire to move forward, so it was a sad day at our North-West London headquarters when we learned that there have been battery fires in iPhones in China. Notoriously, iPhone batteries only last around 18 months–two years after which time they need replacing (a service that the team at Mac Rental Company are only too happy to help with.) However, even when they stop working we have yet to hear of a situation where batteries are simply spontaneously combusting. To put it quite simply, this is really not good. So what on Earth is going on?
Is Apple facing troubling times really?According to recent reports, eight users have complained to Shanghai’s customer watchdog that their iPhone 6 handsets have combusted or exploded from September 1st to November 30th, 2016. Not only are they exploding, but apparently some of the devices are simply shutting down of their accord, despite displaying sufficient battery. Apple have maintained that they have conducted tests on the devices and found “no cause for concern with these products.” Instead, the head honchos in California asserted that the iPhones had owner-caused damage that “led to the thermal event,” which has to be one of the oddest euphemisms for fire that we, at Mac Rental Company, have ever heard. However, they are now facing a backlash, with many complaining that Apple was too slow to respond to consumer complaints raised by the Shanghai Consumer Council.
Slowly, Apple are starting to wake up to this problem and have now offered to exchange all iPhone 6S batteries for those Chinese users who complained of the sudden shutdowns. However, despite this gesture, Apple has seen Chinese sales fall over the past three fiscal quarters, although this could be more to do with the Chinese market offering far cheaper smartphone alternatives.
Interestingly, it’s not only Apple suffering in the Chinese market, but Samsung were also forced to recall 2.5 million Note 7 handsets globally after a series of much reported battery fires. What this means is that Chinese citizens are becoming increasingly wary of foreign technology and instead opting to buy their domestic products, which may well have a knock-on effect on Apple’s profit margins moving into 2017. The real question is Is Apple facing troubling times?
Given that China is one of the biggest markets in the world, and especially as Apple have clearly claimed their desire to drive their brand forward in this area, troubling times could lie ahead for Tim Cook and his team (well when we say troubling, they still own a multibillion dollar corporation, so it is all rather relative). The team at Mac Rental Company still wouldn’t mind walking in Cook’s shoes for a day, but we digress. Now you know Is Apple facing troubling times or not? Answer is Apple Plans to Take Over the World.
