Although Telecom giant, Apple is yet to reveal the number of iPhone X units sold in the fourth quarter. Studies show that the iPhone X sales hit close to the 30 million in Apple’s 4th quarter
A statement released by Canalys – a leading global technology market analyst firm states that Apple sold over 29 million iPhone units in the fourth quarter, including 7 million in the U.S. The sales of the iPhone X which hit close to 30 million in Apple 4th quarter makes it the most popular iPhone sold by Apple during the period, topping the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
In September 2017, Apple unveiled the iPhone X and released it in November. At present, it is the most expensive smartphones sold by Apple starting with a release price of $999. For this large amount of money, a user gets a dramatically redesigned iPhone with a 5.8-inch screen that nearly covers the entire handset face.
It also comes with the new Apple biometric technology known as the Face ID which scans through the persons face to unlock the smartphone and verify mobile purchases using Apple Pay.
After the release, there was so much speculation that the iPhone might out price itself out of the market due to its price. However, studies show that many Apple customers traded their older iPhones to defray the cost of the iPhone X, although experts still believe that the iPhone X performed slightly below industry expectation.
Despite all the speculation of the number of units sold, Apple is yet to release an official statement to address this.
