Apple launched iPad Air and iPad Mini 18th of March,2019.
Apple introduced the all new iPad Air, which is an ultra-thin 10.5-inch design. The design looks pretty much the same as the older iPads. The upgrades were mostly internal. IPad Air gives high end performance with A12 Bionic chip with apple’s Neural Engine.
IPad mini was also launched by Apple, which has major internal upgrades from the prior iPad Mini devices. It comes with an A12 Bionic chip and delivers three times more performance than the old iPad Mini. TrueTone has also been introduced in the iPad mini.
We will discuss the features, shortcomings and prices of iPad Air and iPad Mini 2019.
Apple has not been creative with the design for iPad Air, but they sure have upgraded it internally. iPad Air is a powerful, high functioning device hiding serious power behind its laminated screen and traditional design.
Apple has gone with the traditional design of iPad Air for the 2019 upgrade. The size is exactly the same as its predecessors. Also, Apple has not gotten rid of the home button which is a problem for some people whereas a positive factor for others.
One upgrade by Apple for the new iPad Air is the laminated screen. It gives the iPad Air classier look and makes it more attractive keeping in view the price.
Apple has upgraded the iPad Air to become compatible for use of Apple Pencil. It is definitely a welcomed feature. As this feature was exclusive to Pro iPads, Apple still managed to keep one card exclusive to the Pros. The new iPad Air works with the original Apple Pencil but doesn’t support the latest versions of Apple Pencil.
The iPad Air comes with a smart keyboard support. You can connect the new smart keyboard to your iPad Air through its smart connector.
It is a genuine upgrade for iPad Air as it was not included in the prior models.
Apple iPad Air comes with an A12 Bionic processor, which makes it a lot more powerful than its predecessors. Apple claims that the new iPad Air delivers a 70 percent boost in perfomance and twice the graphics capability.
The iPad Air comes with the advanced Retina display with True Tone technology. It is almost 20% larger than the older models and delivers over a half a million more pixels.
Bluetooth has also been updated from the 4.2 version to 5.
The new iPad Air is no doubt a powerful and intelligently built tablet but it still carries some shortcomings. One negative is obviously the fact that iPad Air doesn’t support the new generations of Apple Pencil. It works with only the 1st Gen Apple Pencil.
Another shortcoming is that there are only two speakers instead of four. Also, Apple could have been more creative with the design and not gone with the traditional one.
Apple has upgraded the Mini lineup which was last updated in 2015. The new iPad Mini is a smart, compact and intelligent device with some of Apple’s latest tech.
The design is still the same as the old ones but there are significant changes on the inside.
Apple has gone with the seven-year-old traditional design of the mini lineup for the iPad Mini 2019 as well. Externally, the new iPad Mini looks exactly the same as its predecessors. The new iPad mini come with a 7.9in screen and weighs from 300 grams.
The upgrades were mostly internal.
Apple claims that the iPad Mini 2019 has the highest pixel density on an iPad. The resolutions are 2048 to 1536.
The major upgrade is that the iPad Mini 2019 comes with a fully laminated display unlike its predecessors.
The iPad Mini 2019 allows you to use the latest generation Apple pencils.
The iPad Mini comes with the A12 Bionic chip with its 4-core graphics engine. This makes it such a powerful device in such small form.
The storage capacity of iPad Mini 2019 is 64GB or 256GB.
It includes an 8MP camera and 1.2MP FaceTime camera.
The iPad Mini’s headphone jack inclusion is definitely a positive one in its favor.
The iPad Mini 2019 uses a Touch ID fingerprint reader like its predecessors. If you were expecting the newer Face ID facial recognition, you should be looking at the iPad Pro lineup.
We love the new iPad Mini 2019 with its high processing power and smart display. But still, there are some shortcomings
Apple launched iPad Air and iPad Mini 2019 almost a week ago. Both of these launches from Apple were quite impressive. Both of these devices seem affordable as compared to the iPad Pro. There are also similar with respect to their processors; the A12 Bionic chips. They also support the original Apple Pencil.
The obvious difference is between the sizes and usages. Other than this they are similar in capabilities.
