How do I use Apple Pay? Apple Pay first launched in the UK back in July 2015, so it has been going for quite a long time. However, after speaking to some of our customers we appreciate that some people are still a little confused as to how, when, what and where you can use Apple Pay. So at the Mac Rental Company we thought we would remind you of this nifty little tool and more importantly break it down into sizeable chunks so you know exactly when you can use this.
So first things first, Apple Pay is compatible with the:
iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7s and the Apple Watch. It essentially allows you to pay for goods much in the same way as a contactless card, allowing you to simply tap on the credit card machine.
How does it work?
On encountering a card reader, Apple Pay automatically wakes up – without even having to open the app – and on the iPhone you rest your finger on the Touch ID until you see Done and a checkmark on the display once the transaction has been authorised. Then your phone will vibrate and beep. On the Apple Watch simply hold the display close to the contactless reader and you should feel a gentle tap once it goes through.
How do I get started?
Go onto the app, helpfully entitled Wallet and request that your bank send you a code, or alternatively you can activate the system over the phone. From there you should be able to get cracking.
Can I sync more than one card?
Yes, absolutely – you can easily add another card and then simply switch between the two. Underneath your current card on your Wallet you should have the option to “add a credit or debit card” and you can also delete an outdated card by tapping and removing the card.
Can I use it on the tube?
Yes, Apple have struck a rather fantastic deal that means you can indeed use your iPhone or Apple Watch to tap in or out. However, the important thing to remember is that if your device runs out of battery during the journey, you would then be charged the maximum fare so make sure you have enough juice to get from A to B. so now you understand How do I use Apple Pay.
