Not that we at Mac Rental Company ever dabble in politics, our clients come from diverse and different backgrounds and our ethos is in that with the great soul singer Aretha Franklin – R-E-S-P-E-C-T. And we hope that goes both ways, and we assume that is what has allowed us to build such great relationships with clients up and down the UK who want to rent and hire MacBooks, iPhones and iPads. How an iPhone is made?
However, in early 2016 Donald Trump made something of an interesting vow – that he planned to force Apple to make its computers on US soil. More recently he’s upped the stakes with explicit promises of three big new plants on US soil. Now, it’s not just Republicans who are pro-American products in America, Obama congratulated Apple more recently for making more of its Macs domestically. However, Trump was the first President to force the issue – and so it got us thinking – where are our favourite Apple products made and by whom?
Currently the only Apple product to be manufactured in the USA in its entirety is the Mac Pro, however that is also the lowest selling product that Apple makes. Instead and unsurprisingly most of the rest of their products are made in the Far East, although interestingly each component is made in a different country before being lovingly put together by Apple workers. The displays are mainly made in Japan by Japan Display and Sharp, with a few made in South Korea. Meanwhile the Touch ID sensors found in recent iPad and iPhone models were made in Taiwan, but overall Apple boasts a list of suppliers that stretches to well over 200 names. The number of countries actively involved in making up the iPhone are countless; although sadly the UK does not form part of that elite list. And, of course, many would argue the iPhone is indeed made in America because it is born from the engineering, design and minds of American scientists, engineers, thinkers and dreamers out of their brand spanking new offices in San Francisco.
Although if you wanted to get particular about it, Apple has a “made in China” logo, because the majority of its products originate from there.
Now, we personally think that this multicultural iPhone, the fact that it uses technology from right across the world, is the reason why Apple is the best. Never stopping, but consistently striving they will go to the ends of the earth to find the best possible manufacturers.
But, what do you think? We would love to hear from you.
