Fixing Common Issues You Have With Mac, MAC is one of the most selling machines and its major selling point is “it just works”. Most users won’t find a big issue or won’t spend hours updating drivers or troubleshooting issues. But if somebody faces any issue or something goes wrong what should he/she do? Here are some main problems that Mac users may experience, and it’s fixing tips.
What to do if you’re MAC is not turning on?
There are several reasons if your MAC is not turning on. Before calling your IT guy do check your mac is plugged in. if your plug is plugged in properly and your screen is still off. Then try new cable or adapter. If the issue remains there then unplug all the accessories attached with your mac and then reattach them. It could be that one of your peripherals is causing problems with the startup sequence.
If you recently installed a new hard drive, then do check whether it is installed correctly and compatible. If it’s possible for you then reinstall the old hard drive and see if that helps. How to deal with Grey Screen at startup?
Mac just got stuck!
If your Mac has frozen or stuck in the middle of a task, or any application has become unresponsive, then it is possible to Force Quit it by right clicking/control-clicking on its icon in the Dock and choosing Force Quit.
Instead, you can Force Quit an app by pressing
Command+Alt+Escape at the same time.
You can also press command+ctl+eject to force reboot your Mac or laptop or you can hold down the power button to do the same thing.
Be aware that if you have to Force Quit or reboot your Mac you may lose some data. If you have a Time Machine back up you may be able to recover the date from that.
How to get rid of the spinning beach ball?
Whenever your Mac is struggling, the colourful ball that graces your screen has a few names, Apple calls it the spinning wait cursor, but we like to call it the spinning beach ball.
When you are trying to do too many things at the same time then this ball appears or more accurately when an application can’t handle all the things it is supposed to do, the beach ball will start to spin.
Usually, the beach ball only appears on screen for a few seconds. For longer than you’d like to check the CPU and RAM sections of Activity Monitor to see if there is a hog (more on Activity Monitor in the next section).
One of other reason you may see the beachball is when you are running out of space on MAC.it is always recommended that you always have 10% of your hard disk space free. If it gets to the point where space is at a premium then it can slowdowns your Mac because less space is left for swapping the files.
It may be any application or process which is causing a problem, so have a look into your activity monitor to see if anything is creating an issue. You can close those applications in activity monitor.
Safari is one of the apps most often calls beachball. If you see the beachball when you are surfing the web then it may be because that the webpage you are looking for is problematic.
What to do if you’re MAC is not shutting down?
If any applications are in still in closing process in the background then your Mac may take some time in shutting down. For this best advice is to take rest and be patient because it will shut down in a while and closes all those applications and save your data.
If an application is having issues in stopping or closing down then look into your Dock for any notification or indication that needs your attention. Possibly it’s just Pages or word asking whether you want to save it or not.
If something is causing a hold-up or taking time in closing and you are unable to fix it then you may need to Force Quit it. However by Force quitting you may lose some data.
Still, if you are unable to Force Quit it, then press and hold the power button until the Mac switches off.
Note: When you restart your Mac it will ask you if you want to reopen all the applications which were previously opened.
We advise you say no to this option because something you had open may cause the same problem again if it reopens.
