“Dark Mode” in new macOS Mojave to be available by the beginning of 2019. The latest operating system for Mac is macOS Mojave. This updated OS which was initially released on the 24th of September 2018 with updates released as early as October.
With the release of the macOS Mojave, a lot of software developers have gone back to the drawing board to ensure that their third-party apps are compatible with the features of this updated operating system.
Features of macOS Mojave include dark mode which could be regarded as the best feature of the update. The dark mode tones down the colors of the background, the menu bar, the drop-down menu and the dock and is applied to every interface of apps.
Mac users can also activate and deactivate the dark mode feature. With macOS Mojave, the dark mode can be applied throughout the system across different apps that are compatible with the features. Other features of macOS Mojave include Desktop Stacks, upgraded finder, markup and quick look tools. With macOSD Mojave, Mac users can also take screenshots differently.
Because the dark mode was one of the features Mac users looked forward to in the upgraded macOS Mojave, the different software developers updated their apps to support the dark mode.
Chrome, however, has been lagging behind with this upgrade. For Apple apps, the dark mode was implemented with the upgraded OS. However, developers of third-party apps had to write codes to allow their apps to support the dark mode. The developers of Chrome are yet to write the required codes for enabling dark mode.
Although a new version of Chrome was released recently, it doesn’t support dark mode on macOS Mojave. Chrome 71, the latest version of Chrome, was released about a week ago, and although users expected it to support the dark mode on macOS Mojave, that wasn’t the case.
There’s, however, good news for Mac users. The next update of Chrome will most likely support dark mode, and the update, Chrome 72, will be released early 2019. According to a post on Reddit, a code that allows Chrome to support dark mode has been submitted for Chromium. Changes on updates of Chrome are usually implemented on Chromium before they go through the Chrome beta version and finally get to the update Chrome version.
The release dates for the next updates of Chrome are January 29 and March 12, 2019, respectively. Hopefully, the changes required for supporting dark mode would have been tested and implemented in the expected updates, Chrome 72 or Chrome 73.
Finally, to get connected and be part of the latest development by Apple, it is vital to have an Apple device that can keep you informed of all the latest updates in Apple World.
