Congratulations! Apple opens its first store in Taipei! situated in the South Eastern Asian state of Taiwan, is the most recent city to benefit from a brand spanking new Apple store. Already boasting 495 retail stores across 17 countries, including a whopping 270 in the United States, the head honchos at Apple had a quick lunch meeting and after spinning their finger at random on a globe, decided to go with Asia. We joke…obviously, the big bosses at Apple are only slightly more tactical than that. To be honest, given that most of the technology for Apple is made in Taiwan, it rather makes sense that they get their own store. Not only that, but Apple have been planning their Asian takeover for quite some time now – Apple recently opened a flagship store in South East Asia – Singapore and there are rumours that this will be closely followed by one in Seoul in South Korea. And before the opening of this store what on earth were the residents of Taiwan doing to get their Apple proucts we hear you ask. Well… Apple authorised third parties to sell its products in Taiwan and only last month they opened their first ever iPhone screen repair centre. But, we imagine that the people of Taipei will be rather pleased to have their very own store.
And, in fact, when the store opened last Saturday (July 1st) on the ground floor of the Taipei 101 shopping mall in the Xinyi district, a worthy location given that it boasts the not unimpressive accolade of being the fourth tallest skyscraper in the world, queues begin three days before. Oddly enough the dude at the front of the queue was actually an American called Steve Burt…which seems a little odd, but we guess that’s dedication for you. Although, we guess it did ensure he was one of the lucky few to receive a specially made t-shirt of which only 2,000 were made and which were all gone in two hours.
Featuring 130 staff members and covering 1,320 square metres, the store includes a video wall that will allow eager participants to learn more about Apple sessions as well as avenues which are inspired by window displays along a shopping street and that line the store wall. And as if that wasn’t quite enough, Apple Taipei 101 will also be offering hands-on training to entrepreneurs, developers and other business customers in the Boardroom.
