Best iOS apps for health and wellbeing Increasingly, there is a move of our society towards being healthier, stronger and fitter. Figures like Jamie Oliver, and more recently, Ella Woodward brought to the forefront just how much junk is in our food, whilst a slew of personal trainers have, in a rather unprecedented fashion, reached global superstardom as an increasing number of people hope to look just like them. Even at Mac Rental Company HQ we are focused far more on our health than ever before as we try and make the right decisions, so we thought we would share some of our secrets of how we have made better life choices via these apps…
MapMyRun
This app is completely free and helps you monitor just how far you are running. Using built in GPS, it tracks your entire run including duration, distance, pace, speed, elevation, calories burned and route travelled. You can then easily save this workout data, giving you a lovely workout history that you can use to compare and contrast. It can be hugely motivating as during your run it will inform you how far you have ran – hopefully compelling you to smash those targets.
Deliciously Ella
If you ever find yourself stuck with what to cook and don’t even know where to start, this app could easily be the answer. It does cost £3.99, but that is a one-off cost, and once paid, it means you have access to a range of wonderful recipes that are regularly updated and a whole world of possibilities. Well worth the investment.
Sweat with Kayla
This app is at the more expensive end of the scale, costing around £20.00 a month. However, what it means is that you can work out every day from your home with a variety of carefully picked and specially created exercises by Kayla Itsines, an Australian personal trainer who has over 6 million followers on Instagram and is slowly changing the world of exercise.
The Mindfulness App
In this day and age there is so much going on (especially for many of our clients in the London area) that it is hard to find time to relax and just breathe. This app helps solve that problem, offering even the busiest London professional a chance to take some time out and relax, even if it is just for 5 minutes.
Runtastic
Ask any scientist and they will agree there is really nothing more important than a good night’s sleep. Now, there are plenty of apps on the market which help monitor your sleep, but what this does so well is influencing how you rest by recording the outside factors that affect your sleep – helping you build a far more complete picture.
Are there any other apps that you use? Feel like we have missed any out? We would love to hear from you and we can share your thoughts on our blog.
