Mac products might seem expensive at first glance especially when they are compared with the £300 laptops available in PC World, but those computers are built down to a particular price range. Apple, on the other hand, considers the production of devices that are powerful and meant to last. Apple has always been producing Macs that are the best for making music, graphic design, app development and video editing and they are always releasing better products almost every year. Now Apple Set to Release 13-inch Retina MacBook.
As reported by DigiTimes, Apple will be releasing a brand new ‘entry-level’ 13-inch Retina MacBook in June, and it was rumored that it would be of a lower cost than the current 12-inch MacBook. However, the report shows that the features of the 13-inch MacBook will be a 2560×1600 panel with a 226 PPI density which is the same as the 13-inch MacBook Pro. This new product of Apple will have better specs at a lower price – it sounds like a compelling product. The price tag as reported from the report says that the 13-inch Retina MacBook will be around the present MacBook Air which is $999 price tag.
It was previously said that Apple was going to make use of a Chinese manufacturer to design the new low-cost Mac’s displays, but they decided not to use them again due to the quality issues from earlier test production – they later make use of LG Display. While it was shown that the price of this 13-inch Retina MacBook would be lower than the present 12-inch MacBook which costs just $1299, the actual pricing of the 13-inch Retina MacBook was not very precise. The price war just tagged ‘at the same level or slightly higher’ than the present MacBook Air. This implies $999, but there is wiggle-room.
By the end of May, the new 13-inch Retina MacBook is reported to enter mass production. Though the 13-inch Retina MacBook has not been announced at the Apple’s developer conference, it has been lined up for an announcement at WWDC, but it is expected to be held in early June. Although, new hardware announcements are not included in the WWDC announcements. Apple announced the HomePod, iMac Pro, and updates to iMacs and all Mac laptops at the event last year. The report does not refer to the new Apple product as MacBook Air but as a 13-inch MacBook.
Last week, KGI reported that Apple would design and release a cheaper 13-inch MacBook Air this year too. The two analysts may be possibly ultimately talking about the same product from their reports but in a different way or that Apple will be dropping different prices for both the Retina MacBook and MacBook Air lines.
However, from the DigiTimes report, it was shown that upstream supply chain suggests that the new upgraded iPads are on the cards for launch this year. The report also claims that the new 9.7-inch entry-level iPad is set to be released in the second quarter of the year and (others have suggested sub-$300 price-tags). This model is probably the model released in Eurasian regulatory filings a few weeks ago.
Moreover, some parts of the report also said that some parts are being produced for another new iPad Pro hardware upgrade which is also designed to be released in the second half of 2018. A new iPad Pro is expected this year by the rumor mill with the removal of the home button, integration of Face ID Unlock, and completely new bezel design.
