You know Affect of Brexit on the price of Apple Apps?? We at Mac Rental Company try to remain politically unbiased. We serve a higher authority – the technical wizards at Apple who come up with such exceptional products. However, we are now finally feeling the effects of Brexit. We now understand what it is to mourn the loss of the EU. Because last week Apple announced an increase in price for its apps and in-apps purchases. This is set to affect customers in India, Turkey and the United Kingdom. However, given that we are Central London based and work with clients across the UK including the lovely cities of Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds offering same day delivery of all MacBook Pros, iPad Retinas and iPhones we are truly shocked to hear of this most recent decision.
About Affect of Brexit on the price of Apple Apps it would seem to be due to the weak pound exchange rate following Brexit, which has seen the value of the pound decrease by 18.5% against the US dollar. Frankly, most of the team at Mac Rental Company are but humble Apple technicians, working to fix all of your Apple products so we don’t really understand the economics. Nor do we fully understand the UK’s 20% VAT rate, but we know this is bad for consumers. It means that an app sold for 99 cents in the US will now cost 99p in the UK, a 25% increase on the original price of 79p. Whilst this increase may not seem significant, it means that in-app purchases such as full games of Super Mario Run will rise from £7.99 to £9.99. Whilst this change is only focused on the app store for the moment, it would seem that the same increases are due to hit the iTunes Store for TV shows, movies and books.
Apple gave their customers one week warning to allow them to bulk purchase apps that they had long waited, but delayed purchasing. But, this is not the first time this year we have seen an increase in the cost of Apple products due to Brexit. The launch of the new MacBook Pro in October saw a 20% price rise, whilst the MacBook Pro jumped by £500 seemingly overnight.
Affect of Brexit on the price of Apple Apps in fact, it is not just Apple fans who are set to see a rise in prices. As importing goods becomes more expensive due to higher fuel, air and food costs it would seem that a range of companies will be hiking their prices. Meanwhile other software providers have also increased their prices with Microsoft increasing their price of cloud computing and enterprise software for UK businesses, whilst Tesla has increased prices by 5%.
We would love to hear from you. How has this price increase affected you? Are you considering, heaven forbid, moving over to android?
